Bad Homburg. The total market for vehicles with an alternative drive grew by 75 percent to 6,497 units January 2017 compared to the same month of the previous year. 67 percent of these vehicles came from VDIK members.
Sales of electric vehicles rose by 97 percent to 2,856 units. 1,323 registrations were made for pure electrical and 1,533 registrations for plug-in hybrid vehicles. The VDIK members increased their new registrations in this area high above average by 111 percent.
With 3,142 new registrations, hybrid passenger cars without a plug-in increased by 71 percent in January compared to the same month last year. This result is almost exclusively owed to the VDIK members, their market share here is 98 percent.
VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel: “With two-thirds of all new registrations, the international motor vehicle manufacturers underlined their leading position in the field of alternative drives also in January. To be emphasized in particular is the increase in electric vehicles.”
