Stock of vehicles with alternative drives is growing significantly
Bad Homburg. The number of vehicles with alternative propulsion systems on German roads is increasing significantly. Vehicles with an electric motor, gas or hybrid drive now account for almost 800,000 units, 1.7 percent of the total stock, which is an increase of 8.5 percent. More than half of these vehicles (52 percent) come from international manufacturers.
Among the alternative drives, passenger cars with electric or hybrid drive are growing the most, with an increase of 46 percent.
The number of diesel cars with modern Euro6 engines increased by million, corresponding to a growth of 42 percent. Their share in the total stock of diesel cars now amounts to 25 percent. Supported by the numerous exchange programs of almost all manufacturers, the number of diesel passenger cars with emission levels Euro1 to 4 decreased significantly by more than 700,000 vehicles.

The simultaneous strong increase in the stock of vehicles with alternative drives supports this development. Thereby, the international manufacturers make an important contribution to the prevention of driving bans. “
