VDIK welcomes reopening of the auto trade
The Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK) welcomes the reopening of the auto trade agreed upon today by the Chancellor and the Prime Ministers. According to the decision, motor vehicle dealers will be able to reopen, regardless of the size of the sales area.
VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel explained: “The decision to reopen the motor vehicle dealership is correct and justifiable. This will quickly help to preserve jobs and businesses in the auto industry. The VDIK member companies and their dealers will fully commit themselves to comply with the specified health protection measures”.
Already last week, the VDIK, together with the VDA, ZDK and IG Metall, had already lobbied to allow stationary sales of motor vehicles to end customers again after the meeting between the Federal Chancellor and the Minister Presidents. In the automobile trade, the situation is characterized by comparatively large areas and a small number of customers present at the same time. Minimum distances between individuals of 1.5 to 2 metres can be maintained. Queues at the checkout, crowds at shelves, changing shopping carts from customer to customer and the constant exchange of goods for cash in personal contact do not occur in the automobile trade.
