Promotion of private wallboxes must continue quickly
The Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK) calls on the Federal Government to quickly provide the KfW programme for private charging infrastructure with additional funds. VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel commented: “In addition to the public charging infrastructure, the private charging infrastructure is of decisive importance for buyers of electric vehicles. Those who buy an electric car usually also install a wallbox in their private parking space. A longer interruption of the funding could jeopardise the success of electric mobility in Germany. Therefore, adequate funding for the private charging infrastructure programme is indispensable.”
The Federal Ministry of Transport’s programme to promote private charging infrastructure started in November. Since then, KfW has approved applications to promote 600,000 privately used charging points. The federal government has already used 500 million euros for this purpose. However, this sum has now been exhausted. No new applications can be submitted at the moment.
