VDIK welcomes increase in funding for private wallboxes
The Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK) welcomes the decision of the Federal Government to provide the KfW program for private charging infrastructure with additional funds. VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel commented: “In addition to an efficient public charging infrastructure, it is crucial for buyers of electric vehicles to be able to charge at home as often as possible. Therefore, they need a wallbox in their private parking space that enables safe and quick charging. An increase in funding for the private charging infrastructure program is therefore very welcome.”
The Federal Ministry of Transport’s program to promote private charging infrastructure started in November. Since then, KfW has approved applications to promote 600,000 privately used charging points. The federal government has already used 500 million euros for this purpose. These funds are now to be increased by a further 300 million euros.
