Mayer retires, Helfrich takes over
Bernd Mayer, Technical Director of the Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK), is retiring after more than 30 years of service to the VDIK. His duties as head of the Technology, Aftersales and Environment Department will be taken over by Oliver Helfrich. Mayer will continue to advise and support the VDIK for a transitional period.
After his engineering studies with the German Armed Forces and his time as a professional soldier, Mayer joined the VDIK in 1991. VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel: “Bernd Mayer is one of the most recognized technical experts in the German automotive industry. With his great knowledge and experience, he has had a significant influence on the work of the international manufacturers in Germany. As a member of the association’s management, he has also decisively advanced the further development of the VDIK into an assertive, competent association. On behalf of all members, I would like to thank Bernd Mayer wholeheartedly for his many years of work and his great passion in fulfilling his tasks.”
Mayer’s duties will now be taken over by Oliver Helfrich as head of the Technology, Aftersales and Environment department. Helfrich has been with the VDIK for 20 years. After studying mechanical engineering, Helfrich first worked as a design engineer in the engine development department at BMW. He then worked as a motor vehicle expert for Allianz. Zirpel: “The technical work of the VDIK will now pass into the hands of Oliver Helfrich, who will continue it with great personal experience and expertise. Helfrich knows the interests of the international manufacturers in the areas of technology, aftersales and environment very well and will continue to represent them competently.”
