The Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK) welcomes a new member. NIO is admitted to the VDIK. This means that the association now represents 44 brands of international passenger car and commercial vehicle manufacturers in Germany.
NIO was founded in China in 2014 and has been exclusively building all-electric premium vehicles ever since. The company has maintained its global design center in Munich since 2015 and will enter the German market before the end of 2022. The first deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter. In addition, the manufacturer plans to expand its own network of charging and battery swap stations. VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel emphasized: “Those looking for alternative drive systems in Germany have always tended to find them with an international manufacturer. VDIK brands brought the first electric cars to Germany. Now, too, international brands in particular are getting the German passenger car market moving again. We are pleased to be able to support new manufacturers in their efforts to gain a foothold in Germany.”
Hui Zhang, Vice President of NIO Europe said, “As a premium electric vehicle manufacturer, we continue to drive the company’s global expansion. This year, we are bringing our products and comprehensive service system to customers in several European markets, the largest of which is Germany. With our innovative approach, which includes an integrated solution of charging and battery swapping options, we want to contribute to the mobility and energy transition in Germany. That’s why we are very pleased to become part of the VDIK network.”
