The Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers has published the new list of the current range of electric vehicles offered by VDIK member companies. The list contains 37 electric vehicles that customers in Germany can order and buy. These include 20 battery electric vehicles, 15 plug-in hybrids and two fuel cell cars. The list can be called up on-line under www.vdik.de
VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel stressed: “International manufacturers are continuing to expand their range of electric vehicles. It is precisely thanks to this broad range of products from international manufacturers that electric cars are already available in great variety to customers in Germany today. Also in 2019, the best-selling battery electric car in Germany will come from a VDIK member company. The most frequently newly approved plug-in hybrid is also an imported car.”
The international manufacturers offer electric models in various sizes, segments and price categories. Battery electric vehicles are available with batteries of various sizes, some of which enable ranges of over 400 kilometres. In addition, there are numerous plug-in hybrids with an electrical radius of around 50 kilometres or more. In addition, the international manufacturers are pioneers in Germany with their range of series-ready fuel cell vehicles.
VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel emphasized: “In order to help electric cars and other vehicles with alternative drive systems to achieve a breakthrough, a determined funding policy is needed in addition to the comprehensive model range. The Federal Government should therefore draw up an overall strategic concept for the promotion of alternative drive systems. As an individual instrument, the environmental bonus, which is currently limited until the end of 2020, is of decisive importance for both private and commercial buyers. However, an extension of the environmental bonus, if possible until 2030, is indispensable and should be decided and communicated as soon as possible.
