The Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK) welcomes the fact that the Federal Ministry of Economics has now actually implemented the extension of the increased purchase bonus for electric vehicles until 2025, as announced in November. VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel commented: “The eco-bonus with the doubled state contribution is making a decisive contribution to the great success of electromobility in Germany. For their part, the manufacturers are continuously launching new, attractive electric models on the market and are taking over the manufacturer’s share of the environmental bonus. With the extension, Federal Minister Peter Altmaier is now setting the course for the further successful market ramp-up of electromobility by the middle of this decade.
In the amendment of the Environmental Bonus Directive, the existing regulations must now be simplified and made as unbureaucratic as possible. In addition, the continuous financing of the environmental bonus must be ensured until the end of 2025.
